Curtis Gipson, 18, was arrested after crashing a Chick-Fil-A deilvery vehicle that he stole shortly before 7:30 a.m., near the area of University Boulevard Wednesday, July 6.
Gipson and the two other occupants of the stolen car tried to flee the scene before being apprehended and taken to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Surveillance footage of the Chick-Fil-A on Fenton St. and determined that Gipson forcibly entered the restaurant at 4:57 a.m. and stole the key to the delivery vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Gipson stole an undisclosed amount of money and property from Denizen's Brewing Company on East West Highway, Orangetheory Fitness on Fenton St. and Chick-Fil-A on Ellsworth Dr.
Gipson had previously been identified as the suspect who committed a series of commercial burglaries in Silver Spring between May 19 and July 6.
The burglar is believed to have previously burglarized the Whole Foods Market on Wayne Avenue, Cava on Fenton Street, Potbelly on Ellsworth Drive, and Chipotle on Fenton Street.
He allegedly forced his way into the businesses to steal an undisclosed amount of property and money.
Gipson had initially been arrested on Tuesday, June 28, but was released on a $5,000 bond before allegedly committing yet another string of burglaries the morning of Wednesday, July 6.
He is currently being held without bond.
Detectives believe there may be additional businesses that might have been burglarized by Curtis Gipson.
